Fix It Friday

Hiya!!

This is my first participation in any sort of I Heart Faces fun in awhile! I just couldn't resist getting back into the swing of things this week =) I thought this photo was quite good to begin with so I really just played with the light and color.

Here's what I did using PSE 7:

Cropped it in some. ( I totally love my crop tool....it really is my best friend!)

* I lightened it alot to really make it bright.

*cI used the Smart Brush to brighten the sky and amp up the green in the greenery.

* I also upped the saturation on blues and greens in general.

That's really about it =) It was a slower photography week for me personally so I was excied to be able to have a photo to play with =)

Visitors Y'all!

I LOVE having people come and visit!! I love having a slew of people to cook for and entertain! My favorite thing about company is getting to show off this FABULOUS city we call home =) I pride myself on being a fountain of historical tidbits - some, I'll admit, are left over from 3rd South Carolina history and may or may not be a little fuzzy....And by "fuzzy" I mean "made up"....

( *ahem - I also appreciate that a visit from the right person might land me at a good local outlet mall that has no significant historical value but does have a Gap... company = right-to-shop)

My fabulous California girl of a cousin and her new hubby have come to town and I have had a blasty blast playing Scarlette O'Hara Tour Guide Extroidanaire =) We spent some time the other day at a local plantation.....

Um....So THAT is a house =) We did a tour of the house, which was SUPER interesting and, unlike my tours of the Lowcountry, not riddled with semi made up folklore =)

There were so many beautiful details in this house....These were some of my favorites.....

Yay for fancy Southern houses....now - to convince my husband that a portico like that would look stellar on our house....

I ♥ Faces - Beach Photos

Week two for me over at I Heart Faces! What a fun place and what a great way to learn so much from so many TALENTED people!! I could spend HOURS looking at all the amazing photographs!! It's so much fun to see how one theme can look so different depending on the eye it is seen through...

Ok...onto my entry =) We are blessed to live along a beautiful stretch of coastline so everyone has more than their fair share of beach pictures and I had a hard time picking my favorite!! This picture actually comes from a roll (yes, I still use ROLLS of film...I also churn my own butter and mend my socks) that came back to me totally overexposed....It took a few tears (ok, it was really a full on tantrum), prayers, and time on Photoshop but, I must say, I really love the "old timey" look that I got =)

That precious baby girl you are looking at was LOVING her first beach visit....=)

Go check all of the amazing photos out... www.iheartfaces.com

So...I feel like I warned everyone(that really just means you Lysa since I haven't told anyone else!) adequetly that I may or may not stick with this whole blogging thing. I think I am teetering dangerously on proving my own point!! I almost couldn't remember my password!! That is always a bad sign....

It's not for lack of things that I think would be good to blog about....Sometimes I actually think up a whole blog in my head but can't ever seem to get it from there to here. I wish that I had one of those USB cords to connect my brain straight to the computer. That would work great!! I'm sure somewhere out there there is a sci-fi book to that effect...

A lot of the blogs I read are updated almost everyday!!! That really makes me feel like a blogger outcast =)

OK, none of these thoughts seem complete but I am just going to go ahead and publish this so that I can say I have updated my blog....I promise to keep up with it better!!!

Wellies

I think that I am about to become a believer in global warming...

It was almost 80 degrees here today!!! Can I just say that it is really difficult to spread Christmas cheer ( I work part time in retail...) when it is a gazillion degrees outside!! To further test my resolve to be joyful no matter the circumstance =), the AC at work was on the blink today....any by blink I mean not working =)

On a positive weather note, it did rain profusely today and everyone in my world KNOWS what that means....

WELLIES!!!!!!!!!!!!

On any day that the weather man even thinks it might, possibly, perhaps, maybe think about drizzling, I proudly sport the best wellies you have ever seen!! They are crazy with polka dots (yes, I know I am a grown-up) in all different colors!! As a side note, I did buy them new, no thrift boots, but on MAJOR clearance at target.com!!! There may have been a reason they were on clearance but that's a subject for another day.....

I can't tell you how often I've worn them only for the sun to come out in defiance of my fashion statement. To say that one feels silly wearing rain boots, no matter how fabulous, in sunny weather is a tad of an understatement. People always tell me they like them, including a few kids that I see regularly.....and, when children comment on your fashion choices, there is always a small voice in your head that wonders if the fact a First grader likes your shoes is a good thing =) Either way, I love them and was super stoked to get to wear them today and, as a bonus, it actually rained! Well done weather man!!!

I think the rain is supposed to stop tonight and winter is going to return....which is really good because it takes alot of effort to work those wacky boots into a real adult outfit and I'm not sure I'm up for it two days in a row =)
